Autumn is creeping ever closer as the radiance of Summer ebbs towards the other side of the horizon... for some of us, autumn/winter is a time of outdoor adventure & exploration but for the majority I suspect it is the time where that biological switch automatically flips, bringing on the urges for cosiness, blankets, hot chocolate & marshmellows along with open fires and roast dinners. The ultimate need is basic enough. The soul needs to feel safe, protected and comforted within it's personalised surroundings, somewhere to retreat to from the darker months ahead. Now is the perfect time to be switching your game around. To achieve this goal there are tips and tricks are in abundance out there.

Maybe you're looking at going all for a brand new bedroom design, a totally fresh canvas to get you through the gloomier months. It doesn't have to be so full on if budget is a barrier.

  1. Warm Color Palette: Use warm and soothing colors like soft neutrals (beige, cream, or light gray), warm grays, muted pastels, or earthy tones (warm browns, deep greens) for your walls, bedding, and decor.

  2. Soft Textures: Incorporate soft textures through plush bedding, fluffy pillows, and cozy blankets. Materials like flannel, fleece, faux fur, and knits work well.

  3. Low Lighting: Opt for soft, ambient lighting instead of harsh overhead lights. Consider table lamps, wall sconces, string lights, or even candles to create a warm, relaxing atmosphere.

  4. Natural Elements: Integrate natural elements like wood furniture, stone accents, or indoor plants to bring in a touch of nature. This can add warmth and a sense of calm to the room.

  5. Layered Bedding: Layer your bed with multiple blankets and pillows to create a comfortable and inviting look. Mix and match different textures and patterns for added visual interest.

  6. Personal Touches: Incorporate personal items, such as family photos or artwork, to make the space feel uniquely yours. These personal touches can add warmth and comfort.

  7. Cozy Furniture: Choose comfortable and inviting furniture, like a plush upholstered headboard, a reading chair with a soft throw, or a cozy window seat.

  8. Area Rug: Place a soft and plush area rug under the bed to add warmth to the room and provide a soft surface for your feet.

  9. Curtains: Hang curtains that are both functional and decorative. Thick curtains can help block out light and drafts while adding a cozy look to the room.

  10. Declutter: Keep the bedroom clutter-free. A tidy space contributes to a calm and cozy atmosphere. Consider storage solutions to hide away items not in use.

  11.  Aromatherapy: Use calming scents like lavender or vanilla through scented candles, essential oil diffusers, or sachets to enhance the cozy ambiance.

  12. Soft Wall Decor: Consider adding soft wall decor, such as fabric wall hangings or upholstered panels, to dampen sound and add to the room's comfort.

What ever choices you make, they are all unique to you. Change is as refreshing as it is calming. Create a mood board and go for it. Enjoy the journey.
